We hosted a Chakabuki tea experience for guests visiting from Singapore at Ohana, a historic cultural venue in Yanagawa.
Chakabuki is an elegant tea gathering that flourished during Japan’s Muromachi period. Participants savor carefully prepared tea while engaging in a sophisticated guessing game—an immersive cultural practice that blends playfulness with a deep appreciation of tea.
Within this historic space connected to the Tachibana domain, guests enjoyed premium Yame tea from Fukuoka Prefecture, surrounded by the serene beauty of a traditional Japanese garden.
Although many guests had visited Japan numerous times—and some remarked, “I already know Japanese tea well”—they discovered Chakabuki to be a fresh and memorable experience, unlike any tea encounter they had experienced before.
